Former WWE Star Wants To Make Surprise Royal Rumble Appearance
Only 30 can get the call for each Royal Rumble, but one former WWE would like the opportunity to participate one more time.
This year’s Royal Rumble seemed to sow the seeds for Cody Rhodes winning the big one against Roman Reigns, after he picked up the win in the men’s match. Although the title victory didn’t transpire, it did for Rhea Ripley who went on to defeat Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
However, memories are not only made by the winners at one of the most popular events on the WWE calendar. Back in 2009, Santino Marella set a record for the fastest elimination from the match, as he was instantly dumped straight back out by ‘The Big Red Machine’ Kane.
In a discussion on the Ignorance Is Strength podcast, Santino Marella has discussed how he would like to appear in a future Rumble match.
I would like…especially because a couple of years ago, I came back as Santina in 2020. I would like to actually come back as Santino. I think people would really appreciate that.
The appearance in 2020 saw Marella compete in the women’s Royal Rumble match as his alter ego Santina. This appearance wasn’t much more successful than in 2009, as he was eliminated in just 61 seconds by jumping over the top rope after being intimidated by Beth Phoenix and Natalya.
