Former WWE Star Makes AEW Debut On Collision In Glasgow (Spoiler)
A former WWE champion has debuted in AEW.
Back in February, Isla Dawn was released by WWE despite being in a tag team with Alba Fyre on SmackDown.
The Scottish star initially joined WWE in 2018 when she took part in the Mae Young Classic. She later became a regular in NXT UK before moving to NXT in the United States and eventually the main roster.
Dawn found her biggest success alongside Fyre when the pair won the Women’s Tag Team Championship at Clash At The Castle: Scotland in 2024. The duo held the gold until they were beaten by Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at Bash In Berlin.
In the months after her release, it was reported that AEW was “heavily interested” in making Isla Dawn All Elite. As noted by Wrestle Votes, the star had already been backstage as far back as July, with an expectation that she’d begin working with the promotion sooner rather than later.
Isla Dawn Arrives In AEW
Although it’s taken a little longer than some may have expected, Isla Dawn has finally made her AEW debut. During the August 23 edition of Collision (taped on August 20 in Glasgow, Scotland), Dawn clashed with Megan Bayne, but she was ultimately defeated.
There’s no word on whether Dawn has officially been signed by the company.
Meanwhile, on Dynamite, it was announced that an up-and-coming AEW star had been pulled from their match at Forbidden Door. This set up the return of a long-time absent wrestler who will take their place in London.
Ahead of the tapings, a former WWE World Champion said that they’d only consider signing with AEW on one condition.
