An ex-WWE star isn’t in a rush to rejoin the company.

Back in June 2024, Ricochet allowed his WWE deal to expire, and he ended his six-year tenure with the company. During those six years, the star wowed crowds with his high-flying acrobatics, but he fell short of many people’s expectations despite winning the Intercontinental, United States, and NXT North American Titles.

Two months later, Ricochet made his AEW debut at All In, but it wouldn’t be until he took part in the Continental Classic that his run kicked into top gear. During the tournament and in the weeks after, the star morphed into a cocky heel and he hasn’t looked back.

In a recent interview, Tony Khan claimed Ricochet is arguably the best character in wrestling, adding that he hopes he’ll stay with AEW forever.

Ricochet Confirms Why He Left WWE

In response to those comments from Khan, which were quickly highlighted by Ricochet, one fan commented that the star would still be on WWE Speed if he hadn’t bet on himself. However, another was much less positive, mocking Ricochet for not winning the World Championship yet, claiming that it was the main reason he joined AEW.

With yet another social media bickering session underway, Ricochet jumped in to lay down the truth. He explained that far from needing championship gold, he became ground down by WWE, and AEW helped him rediscover his love for wrestling.

No, the main reason was that the WWE ruined my love and passion for the sport that I grew up loving.

AEW helped me find that love again.

Ricochet was most recently in action on the April 30 edition of Dynamite, where he teamed with Kazuchika Okada and The Young Bucks to defeat Kenny Omega, Kevin Knight, Mark Briscoe, and “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
