Former WWE Partners To Settle Score At Battleground

Two former WWE tag team partners are set to settle their issues in the ring as another match has been added to NXT Battleground.

At NXT Stand & Deliver, The Family faced DarkState in a six-man tag team match. DarkState was able to pick up the win after Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo betrayed Tony D’Angelo, nailing his boss with a low blow.

On the April 22 edition of NXT, Tony D’Angelo told Adriana Rizzo she needed to find a safehouse to wait out the ensuing war, but Lorenzo was making his own moves.

Lorenzo asked Luca Crusifino to meet him in the middle of the Nevada desert, and slowly it dawned on Crusifino why he’d been called out there, as Lorenzo was apparently going to take him out as well. However, this was not shown as the scene abruptly cut to black – perhaps in homage to the famous series finale of The Sopranos.

WWE Family Explodes At Battleground

On the May 13 edition of NXT, the heat was turned up further as Lorenzo teased D’Angelo that he had found the safehouse Rizzo was in and threatened to attack her as well. D’Angelo attempted to intervene, but Lorenzo laid his former Don out. Later in the night, their one-on-one match for Battleground on May 25 was made official.

The confirmed card so far for WWE NXT Battleground is:

  • Oba Femi (c) vs. Myles Borne – NXT Championship
  • Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Jordynne Grace – NXT Women’s Championship
  • Joe Hendry (c) vs. Trick Williams – TNA World Championship
  • Tony D’Angelo vs. Stacks Lorenzo
