Former WWE World Champion Claims Vince McMahon Lied To Him
Former WWE Champion Nic Nemeth believes he was misled by Vince McMahon.
Currently the TNA World Champion, Nemeth previously spent close to 20 years with WWE competing as Dolph Ziggler. Whilst considered a mid-card talent for the majority of his run with the company, Nemeth enjoyed a run at the top of the card after capturing his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2013.
The Ohio-native defeated Alberto Del Rio to win the coveted gold after cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase to the delight of a raucous crowd in New Jersey on the 8th April 2013 edition of Raw, just one night removed from WrestleMania 29.
Having suffered a high percentage of tv losses in the years prior, Nemeth was hopeful of a winning streak after claiming the title and has has since claimed that McMahon had promised that he would not be on the losing end of television bouts so regularly after becoming World Heavyweight Champion.
The joy would not last long for Nemeth as he lost a non-title bout via pinfall to Jack Swagger just one week later on the 15th April 2023 edition of Raw.
Speaking during a recent appearance on ‘The Takedown On SI‘, Nemeth shared his shock at the broken promise from McMahon:
“Like when I became world champ, the first match I had, I remember Vince told me once, ‘you finally cash in this contract, you won’t lose every single night. Everyone forgets about it. It’s all out the window. And you’re the world champ.’
I cash in. I was the World Champ. And the next Monday, I lost a five-minute match. Jack Swagger and I went, ‘what the f***’ are we doing here? Like what?'”
Vince McMahon Fascinates AEW Star
Whilst Nic Nemeth may be baffled by decisions made by Vince McMahon, another former WWE Superstar has admitted his fascination with the 1999 Royal Rumble winner.
Current AEW star Adam Copeland recently stated that he was fascinated by McMahon’s mind for the wrestling business and shared his enjoyment for learning from the former WWE Chairman.
