Former WWE Champion Signs New Contract
A wrestler who recently lost championship gold has signed a new deal to remain with WWE for many more years.
Chelsea Green’s name will forever be in the WWE history books since she is the inaugural Women’s United States Champion after winning a tournament to crown the new champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event last December.
During her reign as Women’s US Champion, Green acted like the President of the United States, who even had her own Secret Service to protect her. In this case, it was a “Secret Hervice” consisting of Piper Niven and Alba Fyre.
That WWE Women’s US Title reign lasted 131 days for Green until Zelina Vega beat Green to win the title on the first SmackDown after WrestleMania.
While many fans are sad that Green is no longer the Women’s US Champion, Fightful Select reports that Green signed a new deal to remain with WWE.
The specific terms of the deal were not announced, but it was noted that Green recently signed the contract. Green returned to WWE in late 2022 (officially on-screen at the 2023 Royal Rumble) after Triple H took over as the Chief Content Officer in charge of the creative team. The old deal that Green had would have expired later in 2025, so it was likely a three-year deal.
It’s not known how long Green’s new deal is other than that it’s a new multi-year deal.
Green has also held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles with Sonya Deville, and then Piper Niven was her partner after Deville was injured.
A WWE Return For Matt Cardona Is What Chelsea Green Wants
Away from the ring, Chelsea Green is married to Matt Cardona, who wrestling fans know as Zack Ryder after he spent more than a decade in WWE. Using his real name on the indies, Cardona has had a lot of success and likes to refer to himself as the “King of the Indies” over the last six years.
In a July 2024 interview, Green clarified that she would love it if her husband were in WWE with her.
“I just feel like our relationship has gone through the craziest ups and downs, and we are just clinging on for dear life and figuring it out as we go. But of course, our end goal is to be in WWE together and have an amazing storyline and do some mixed tag matches together. That would be amazing.”
Cardona has also said he would like to return to WWE using his real name rather than the Zack Ryder name, but for whatever reason, WWE has yet to bring him back.
