Former WWE Champion Agrees To New Long-Term Contract

WWE Randy Orton CM Punk

A major WWE star has agreed to a long-term contract according to a new report.

Randy Orton is a 14-time WWE World Champion meaning he has the third most recognized World TItle reigns among WWE superstars of all time. John Cena and Ric Flair are tied with 16 World Title reigns in their careers.

At the upcoming WWE Bash in Berlin PLE on August 31st, Randy Orton will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title to try to win a World Title in WWE for the 15th time.

As for his WWE future, Fightful Select reports that Orton won’t be going anywhere anytime soon since The Viper reportedly agreed to a new five-year contract that will keep him WWE until at least 2029 when he’s 49 years old.

Prior to his return to the WWE ring at Survivor Series last November, Orton missed 18 months due to major back surgery and rehabbing the injury. Sometimes when WWE stars have lengthy absences, the time missed is added onto the current contract, but that’s not happening in this case.

Fightful spoke to a higher-up in WWE who addressed the Randy Orton contract situation.

“Not confirming that he did sign a new deal, but the guaranteed money associated with contracts now is a drastic shift from what it was in 2019.”

“There have been changes to our live event schedule, touring, international dates, media obligations, merchandise and social media that would be much more fair to just reach a new deal in many situations.”

The change to live events is WWE cutting way back on the number of domestic live events, which means there are fewer live events for talents to appear in.

While some people believe that Randy Orton “flirted” with going to AEW in 2019, there was nothing like that this time around.

Randy Orton Wants To Wrestle In WWE For 30 Years

In the past, Randy Orton said that he wanted to wrestle until he was about 50 years old, which would be in 2030 and that’s also 30 years after he signed his first WWE contract in 2000, which led to his television debut in 2002.

Recently, WWE also announced that Randy Orton will appear at the NXT event on Tuesday, October 8th in his hometown of St. Louis when NXT is on The CW network.
