Former WWE Champion In Talks With AEW

Tony Khan AEW Triple H WWE

AEW could be about to land three former WWE stars.

On August 16th, Bobby Lashley was removed from the official WWE roster, officially ending his second run with the company. Lashley returned to WWE in 2018 after a 10-year absence.

His departure came shortly after MVP had also left the company, while Shelton Benjamin has been a free agent for several months. Although he’s committed to other projects, Bobby Lashley said in the wake of his exit that he has no plans to stop wrestling. So unsurprisingly, the rumour mill went into overdrive.

Throw in the fact that a Hurt Business reunion was scrapped by WWE, fans wondered whether the group could reform in AEW. Especially when it came to light that MVP was trademarking several phrases and names, while a group listed as Totally Harmless Concept LLC filed to trademark “The Hurt Syndicate.”

Now it seems that a reunion in AEW could be on the cards.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin have held talks with AEW in recent weeks. However, Fightful hasn’t been told that a deal has been signed, or is even close.

WWE Star Will Miss Reunion

While MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin could be getting the band back together, Cedric Alexander won’t be involved after he signed a new WWE contract earlier in 2024.

There’s little known about the exact details of the deal, only that it’s said to be a “multi-year” agreement.

During his time in the Hurt Business, Alexander won the Raw Tag Team Titles alongside Shelton Benjamin.
