Former WWE Champion Closing On In-Ring Return
A popular WWE star will be back in action soon.
Rey Mysterio was pulled from WrestleMania 41 at the 11th hour after suffering a significant injury. The veteran had been due to face El Grande Americano, but 24 hours earlier on SmackDown, he sustained an injury while teaming with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix to defeat American Made.
It was later reported that Mysterio had suffered a torn groin that required surgery. Even so, Mysterio wanted to compete at WrestleMania before company bosses replaced him with Rey Fenix.
But thankfully for the SmackDown star, an end to his latest injury struggles is in sight.
According to a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mysterio is expected to be back in action in August. This backs up earlier suggestions that he’d be back in the ring shortly after SummerSlam.
Rey Mysterio Won’t Make WWE Heel Turn
During a recent interview, Rey Mysterio admitted it would be “very difficult” for him to ever turn heel. The WWE Hall of Famer said that his laid-back character and the amount of him he’s spent as a babyface mean fans would likely reject the change.
Despite being injured, Mysterio recently appeared at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide, where he cut a promo to open the show. However, not everyone was impressed with his comments after he claimed that WWE’s deal with the Mexican promotion had given Lucha Libre a seal of authenticity.
