A former WWE star could make an impact in AEW.

Despite being the man to retire Kurt Angle, Baron Corbin was never able to find a place at the top of the card in WWE and returned to NXT in mid-2023. Over the following 12 months, Corbin turned in some of the best work of his career, earning praise across the board. However, he was released on November 1st, 2024.

At the time of his departure, Corbin was a former King of the Ring, Money In The Bank winner, Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Winner, former NXT Tag Team Champion, and former United States Champion.

Since leaving WWE, the star has headed out onto the independent scene under the name Bishop Dyer, and he currently holds tag team gold in MLW.

During Notsam Wrestling Live!, the show’s regular crew was joined by Dyer and AEW star Paul Wight. When discussing a possible match between the pair, Wight said that he believes Dyer could be an asset to AEW.

“When I look at people that can help AEW, Tom (Pestock) is a guy that I think could help our product. I really do. It’s funny, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before but I just heard him talk, I’m like, oh yeah, this guy can work and he’s not working with the other company anymore. Holy sh*t, this is a steal.”

During the same interview, Paul Wight expressed his determination to return to the ring. The veteran revealed that he had recently undergone a small back surgery, but his recovery was already well underway.
