A former United States Champion has refused to comment on rumours that they could become the latest star to return to WWE.

Since Triple H took over from Vince McMahon at the top of WWE, many former stars have returned to the company after being released or their contracts expiring. With the Royal Rumble on the horizon, many fans are wondering if any other former stars could make a return in Rumble matches themselves.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast, Matt Cardona – formerly known in WWE as Zack Ryder – refused to confirm or deny rumours that he could return to WWE, saying he’d rather let fans talk:

“Listen, I appreciate you asking me this, but here’s the truth. Like, if I were to go back, I wouldn’t reveal it here. And if I wasn’t going back, I wouldn’t reveal it here, because I want people, I want people talking. So the more they talk, you know, the more people are talking about Matt Cardona, the better for me. I’m the Internet Champion, then now and forever. So let them talk.”

Whether or not Cardona will return to WWE, reports have suggested that some of the other stars that have returned to he company in recent months have left Triple H “severely underwhelmed.”
