How Former TNA World Champion Truly Feels About Working With WWE

A former WWE superstar who works for TNA has explained why it’s great that the two companies are working together.

Nic Nemeth spent the first 20 years of his pro wrestling career as WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler. During his incredible WWE career, Nemeth was a two-time World Heavyweight Champion and won many other championships in a career that will likely see him inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame down the road.

Since departing WWE, Nic Nemeth has proudly been a leader in TNA Wrestling for nearly two years. Nemeth is a former TNA World Champion and a former Tag Team Champion with his brother Ryan Nemeth.

In January 2025, WWE and TNA announced an agreement to exchange talent for shows and to work together. While some TNA talent have been on the WWE main roster (like Joe Hendry at WrestleMania), most of the involvement has been with the NXT brand.

While Nic Nemeth hasn’t appeared on NXT since the deal was announced, he certainly could in the future. Nemeth explained to KVIA ABC-7 why the two brands working together is a great thing.

“It’s great because the territories went away 40, 50 years ago and now being able to bounce around to different companies, different rosters, different independent shows, something in the Northeast, something in the Southeast, something in the West Coast, you get to feel the different crowds, the different people. You get to learn from different people.

“Since COVID, WWE’s schedule went from five nights a week to one or two, so you don’t have as many nights a week to give back and teach the young up-and-comers.”

Nic Nemeth Believes The Unpredictability Factor Helps WWE NXT And TNA

The storylines involving NXT and TNA talents have led to wrestlers working for one company holding titles in the other company. Currently, TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) are the NXT Tag Team Champions and will defend those titles at Halloween Havoc. Meanwhile, NXT’s Kelani Jordan holds the TNA Knockouts Title. There have been other examples throughout the year as well.

As he continued talking about the two companies working together, Nemeth made the point that fans not knowing who will appear on which show is a big reason the deal works so well.

“So having that NXT crossover with TNA, where you don’t know who’s gonna show up on Impact, you don’t know who’s going to show up on NXT on Tuesday nights. Having to go back and forth and get matches you thought you were never going to see, but most importantly to me, getting some of their young talent on our show, some experience on TV and getting some of our young talent on their show, even more experience.

“It has been absolutely fruitful so far and it will only get better from here on out.”
