Former Tag Team Champion Says Goldberg “Is The Sh*ts”
A former WWE Tag Team Champion has had his say on his dealings with Goldberg during their time together in WWE and says Goldberg left him with an injury that still hurts today.
La Resistance’s René Duprée made his main roster debut for WWE on Raw in April 2003, just weeks after Goldberg had dismantled The Rock once he finally arrived in the company.
Duprée made an appearance on That 90’s Wrestling Podcast where he discussed a backstage segment he shared with Goldberg. According to Duprée, the former WCW Champion left him with more than he bargained for:
“Yeah, he dislocated my collarbone. We [La Resistance] had a pre-tape in the back with Goldberg and he hit me with the French flag and we had to do 5 takes. To this day, if I try to flex it, it still hurts. Yeah, he’s the sh*ts. He’s horrible, many wrestlers will tell you that.”
Duprée went onto give his take as to why he thinks WWE still calls upon Goldberg to be part of their programming. At 54 years old Goldberg recently returned to WWE screens as he challenged Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam:
“To me, they (WWE) must be desperate. That’s the only thing I can figure. They can’t create new stars or they don’t have confidence in the people they have.”
Goldberg’s first run in WWE came to an infamous end at WrestleMania XX in 2004 when he faced Brock Lesnar in a match the New York crowd was none too pleased to see after news broke that both men were leaving the company imminently.
In 2016 Goldberg returned to wrestling after a 12-year absence defeating Lesnar in shockingly quick fashion. Goldberg’s scheduled WWE Championship match with Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam will be his tenth match since he made that return 5 years ago.
