Spoiler: Former NXT Star Makes Surprise AEW Debut On Rampage
A former NXT Superstar made his debut for AEW during the May 18th Rampage taping in Houston, Texas.
After the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, the company taped this week’s edition of Rampage. The show will air on Friday, May 20th.
During the event, Shawn Spears continued to prepare for his Steel Cage match against Wardlow which will take place on the May 25th episode of Dynamite. Going into the taping it was advertised that Spears would face a mystery opponent, and that opponent was revealed to be Big Damo – formerly known as WWE’s Killian Dain – who was making his AEW debut.
After successful runs in ICW and Revolution Pro Wrestling among other independent promotions, Big Damo signed with WWE in 2016. After making several appearances as a singles wrestler, the Northern Irish star joined the Eric Young-led Sanity where he found himself feuding with Tye Dillinger, now AEW’s Shawn Spears.
Despite a brief run on the main roster as part of Sanity in 2018, Damo moved back to NXT the following year. He was released from the company in June 2021 as part of a round of budget cuts.

During the taping, Bryan Danielson was involved in a freak accident when his leg became trapped between the entrance ramp and the ring.
The American Dragon was teaming with Jon Moxley to take on the duo of Matt Sydal and Dante Martin, who had challenged the Blackpool Combat Club earlier in the night on Dynamite.
Following the bout, Danielson and Moxley were assaulted by the Jericho Appreciation Society, who they are currently embroiled in a feud with. During the fight, Danielson somehow got his leg trapped between the entrance ramp and the ring. He was stuck in that position for ten minutes before finally being freed. Once back on his feet, Danielson limped backstage, although it is not believed that he was seriously injured.
