A former member of the WWE group known as The Nexus would like a return to the company while adding that being part of the NXT brand would be a lot of fun.

The Nexus group debuted together on WWE Raw in the summer of 2010 after spending the first part of the year on the original NXT competition. The group consisted of Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, Skip Sheffield (later known as Ryback), David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Michael Tarver and Darren Young. Bryan was quickly out of the group due to a choke-tying incident that led to him being fired for a few months while the other seven men were featured heavily.

As a young group of heels, The Nexus targeted the top faces in WWE at the time like John Cena and Randy Orton. While Barrett failed to become the WWE Champion, the group managed to win the Tag Team Titles and some of the guys in the group had some individual success as well.

Darren Young currently wrestles all over the world using his real name Fred Rosser and he’s found success in NJPW where he holds the Strong Openweight Champions, which he won on May 15, 2022.

During a recent interview on Under The Ring, Rosser mentioned that he has talked to WWE about a return to the company.

“I always said just because moves aren’t being announced doesn’t mean moves aren’t being made. [I’m] always talking to WWE about what more can I do, whether it’s coaching or coming back to ‘NXT’ because it’s almost like nostalgia. It’s been over ten years since I was on ‘NXT.’ Just imagine me coming to ‘NXT’ with the Strong Openweight Champion to defend it. To just come through, I don’t have to stay.”

Rosser went on to say he would like a chance to show what he can do in NXT while adding that giving back in pro wrestling is very important.

“Because really my career I was always second, third, fourth. I did my thing as The Nexus as a group. I did my thing as a tag team wrestler. I did my thing with Bob Backlund, ‘Make Darren Young Great Again.’ Now, ‘New Japan Strong.’ All eyes on me. So it’s time for me to get what’s mine and I would love to come through ‘NXT’ to just wrestle some of the talent there. Again, giving back is so important today so we’ll see.”

As for the current whereabouts of the other members of The Nexus, Heath is a Tag Team Champion in Impact Wrestling while Gabriel is also there as well using the name PJ Black. Meanwhile, Barrett is part of the commentary team on WWE’s most-watched weekly television show, Smackdown.

Rosser also recently stated that he thinks The Nexus should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame some day.
