Former Champion Removed From Active WWE Roster

Randy Orton Bobby Roode WWE Fastlane

One injured WWE star has been removed from the company’s active roster.

Bobby Roode hasn’t been seen on television since April 1st, 2022, when he took part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on SmackDown ahead of WrestleMania 38. He last wrestled on a live event in June of 2022, losing to Omos in the bout.

Roode underwent surgery to have his C5 and C6 vertebrae fused in the same year and it has caused him to be out of action ever since. Back in April, it was reported that Roode would remain out of action for “quite some time.” In recent months, the star has been working as a backstage agent, helping produce matches on Main Event as well as other programming.

Is Bobby Roode Still In WWE?

According to a new report from Mike Johnson for PWInsider Elite, Roode has been removed from WWE’s active roster. He was previously listed in the miscellaneous section, usually reserved for talent who are injured or who make sporadic appearances such as The Rock. Despite being removed from the active roster, there is not yet confirmation that Roode is now a full time producer.

Roode was a “glorious” former NXT Champion before moving to the company’s main roster. Prior to his time with the sports entertainment giant, Roode spent nearly 15 years in TNA Wrestling as well where he won the company’s World Title and many other championships.

On the main roster in WWE, Roode has won the United States Championship as well as both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships, teaming at different times with Chad Gable and Dolph Ziggler.
