Former Champion Makes Fresh WWE Return Plea
A popular former WWE star is eyeing a return to the company.
Saraya has been a free agent since leaving AEW in March 2025 after coming to an agreement with company President Tony Khan. The former Women’s Champion’s contract had six months to run at the time of her departure.
Unsurprisingly, she’s been repeatedly linked with a return to WWE ever since. There were even suggestions she’d appear at Evolution, but the event came and went without her.
Despite the speculation, it was reported in July that WWE had no interest in bringing Saraya back. The report noted that there hadn’t been any internal discussions about the star, and she was never considered for an appearance at Evolution.
Saraya Would Love To Return To WWE
During a new interview with Busted Open Radio, Saraya said that she still feels connected to WWE and everyone she worked with during that early part of her career. She added that she misses the locker room.
“I’m always going to have that feeling, because WWE is doing amazing things right now. I miss being in the locker room. I miss being around people like Natty. I miss my sisters. I miss being a part of these things.”
Continuing on, Saraya explained that AJ Lee’s return to WWE meant a great deal to her personally, given their close personal history. As Paige, Saraya famously beat Lee on her main roster debut to win the Divas Championship.
“When I watched AJ, I’ve watched that over and over again, because she’s my fairy godmother. She was one who took me under her wing when I first came up on the roster, and we traveled together.
My social media has blown up. I cannot go on there without hundreds of thousands of people doing videos being like, ‘Please bring Saraya back. Please bring Paige back.’ It made me emotional. People still like me, and they still want me to be around. That’s probably the best feeling in the world for me.”
The former AEW star said that she feels she’s done a lot for women’s wrestling and accomplished a lot, but she’s now focused on getting back in the ring. Crucially, she said she wants to be Paige again.
“I’m ready to come back. I want to get my cardio back and get the ring rust off. I found my love for it again. This is such an exciting time for wrestling, and I miss it. I want to be Paige again, like the way she wrestled in NXT, and I want to upgrade her. I’m not going to be crazy, but I want to do the new generation style of wrestling.
If I ever come back, people are going to be surprised at what I can do. I’m going to credit Natty because I am coming to the Dungeon. I’m going to come there for a good month, and we are going to sweat.”
Saraya hasn’t wrestled since the October 8, 2024, edition of AEW Dynamite, but she’s repeatedly stated that her current hiatus is simply a break, rather than retirement.
