Former Champion In AEW Not Close To Making Return

A former AEW champion is on the sidelines and may be undergoing surgery soon.

Jay White has been a part of AEW since signing with the promotion in April 2023. However, he has been out of action for several months, and his absence may last longer than expected.

The last time Jay White had a match was on the March 29th episode of Collision when he sustained a hand injury in a match against Kevin Knight.

Fightful Select reports that White doesn’t appear to be close to a return. It was also mentioned that people in AEW told Fightful that White has been dealing with a shoulder injury. White is considering surgery for the shoulder injury, according to Fightful. If White did undergo shoulder surgery, it would likely put him on the shelf for the rest of 2025 and possibly into early 2026 as well.

During his AEW run, Jay White was a part of the Bullet Club Gold group that became the Bang Bang Gang. The other members of the group were Juice Robinson and The Gunns – Austin & Colten Gunn.

The Bang Bang Gang group has been plagued by injuries since Juice Robinson just returned to the ring after missing seven months, while The Gunns have also missed significant time with injuries.

It was also mentioned by Fightful that White hasn’t been attending AEW tapings lately, which makes sense if he’s unable to wrestle.

AEW World Title Match Taking Place On Final Dynamite Episode In July

There have been times in Jay White’s career when he challenged for the AEW World Title, but he failed to win it. During his AEW run so far, White has only held the AEW Trios Tag Team Titles with The Gunns. During his run in NJPW, White was a former IWGP World Champion.

The AEW World Title will be on the line on the July 30th edition of Dynamite when “Hangman” Adam Page defends the gold against the former champion Jon Moxley. Hangman dictated the terms of the match by saying that everybody else would be banned from ringside for the match.
