Former AEW World Champion Undergoes Successful Surgery
For AEW World Champion has begun their recovery.
Since signing with the company in March 2022, Swerve Strickland has become one of the most important figures in AEW.
In just over three years, Strickland has won the World Championship and the World Tag Team Championship while penning a new long-term deal with a hefty pay rise. Throw in a string of acclaimed matches, most notably against “Hangman” Adam Page, and it’s not hard to see why he’s become so popular with the AEW faithful.
However, ahead of Forbidden Door, it was reported that Swerve Strickland was dealing with a torn meniscus and required surgery. Remarkably, Strickland had been dealing with the issue since 2019, when he was still with WWE.
In a new post on his Instagram stories, Strickland has confirmed that the surgery is complete, and his recovery is underway. There’s no word on when the star is expected to return to the ring.
Another AEW Star Heading For Surgery
As Strickland begins his recovery, it’s been confirmed that Will Ospreay will also be undergoing surgery on a long-standing neck injury. According to the man himself, Ospreay has been working through the problem for around ten months.
Ospreay recently revealed that he’s dealing with two herniated discs that are pressing on his spinal cord, which in turn is causing issues with his nerves. Although there’s been no official comment on a recovery timetable for the British star, one report suggested that he could be out for over a year.
However, there’s been some more positive news on Orange Cassidy. The most recent update on the star’s status noted that he’ll be back on television “sooner rather than later.”
Cassidy has been out since suffering a shoulder injury back in March.
