Former AEW World Champion Finally Explains Long Absence
A former world champion in AEW has finally lifted the lid on their long absence from the company as questions continue about their future.
Tony Khan has not been afraid to put people on the sidelines when their future in AEW has been put in doubt. Mariah May had long been expected to sign with WWE, and as a result, she was not seen again in AEW following her Hollywood Ending with Toni Storm at Revolution. May has since debuted as part of NXT under a whole new name.
But it’s another former AEW Women’s World Champion whose absence continues to cause concern for the company’s fans.
Hikaru Shida Still Waiting On Visa For AEW Return
The last time Hikaru Shida was seen in AEW was when she lost to Kris Statlander on the November 20 2024, edition of Dynamite. During her absence, she has competed in a handful of matches in Japan, where she went up against another missing AEW star in Kota Ibushi in mixed tag team bouts.
Now speaking on her YouTube channel, Hikaru Shida noted that she hopes to return to AEW soon but her visa application is taking longer to process than ever before:
I really hope to. Visa, especially nowadays, it’s getting hard. AEW has so many wrestlers and the lawyer has to do so many things. I know it takes time. I hope I can go back to AEW soon.
For now, I am enjoying my stay in Japan and getting more energy to wrestle in the US again. I’m looking forward to my comeback. Please wait and I’m so glad if you support me.
