An AEW tag team that used to be champions will no longer be together.

The tag team division has been a strength of AEW since the company launched six years ago. One of the most popular tag teams in the history of the company has been The Acclaimed duo of Anthony Bowens & Max Caster along with their mentor Billy Gunn.

Max Caster and Anthony Bowens have been together since 2020 when there were shows in front of no fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the fans returned, they became one of the most popular acts in AEW thanks to their “scissoring” gimmick along with other fun things that they did.

The Acclaimed won the AEW Tag Team Titles in September 2022 for a reign that lasted 140 days. The Acclaimed also held the Trios Tag Team Titles with their mentor/friend Billy Gunn and held those titles for 238 days.

The Acclaimed’s Run Ended On AEW Collision

Over the last few months, The Acclaimed had issues stemming from Caster becoming more egotistical while also showing an interest in joining The Hurt Syndicate group with MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. Due to Caster seeming like he wanted to do something else and The Acclaimed also losing recent matches, it has frustrated Bowens a lot.

The January 18th episode of AEW Collision was taped two days earlier in Cincinnati. During the tapings, there was a segment involving The Acclaimed with Bowens siding with Billy Gunn and Caster reacted to that by declaring he wanted The Acclaimed to end.

Some of the matches that will air on Collision include a huge 12-man tag team match while Kazuchika Okada is in action against Tomohiro Ishii.
