Former AEW Star Returning To The Company
A former AEW star is back with the company.
On the May 29th episode of AEW Dynamite, Lio Rush made a surprise return to the company, competing in the Casino Gauntlet Match. The appearance was Rush’s first with the company since late 2021.
The star made his debut with the promotion at Double or Nothing 2021 but announced his retirement to deal with a shoulder injury. However, that September he confirmed he’d signed with the company. Despite this, he remained with AEW for just five months leaving in February 2022 when his deal expired.
After his return on Dynamite, Rush has made two more appearances on Collision and was in action on the most recent Rampage taping.
According to a new report via Fightful Select, there’s been no confirmation that Rush has re-signed with the company, but he’s expected to be a regular on television going forward. The star is said to have made a “positive impression” since returning.
Lio Rush Claimed AEW Didn’t Know What To Do With Him
Reflecting on his first run with AEW in November 2022, Lio Rush said the company didn’t know what to do with him. Rush also clashed with Tony Khan while with the company, calling him out over his treatment of Big Swole after she voiced concerns over a lack of diversity.
Rush publicly called for Khan to apologise, and later said he didn’t regret the post on social media, but admitted he could have handled the situation differently.
