Former AEW Champion’s Deal Almost Up

One former AEW champion is said to be locked in talks with the company over their future as their current deal expires in a matter of weeks.

Saraya joined AEW in September 2022 and instantly began a feud with Dr Britt Baker DMD. That led to Baker being Saraya’s opponent for her first match in five years at that year’s Full Gear with the English star picking up the win.

The star formerly known as Paige in WWE had been forced to retire from the ring due to a neck injury suffered in a match in 2017 but since joining AEW she has been back in action dozens of times.

Saraya’s highest point in AEW was winning the AEW Women’s World Championship in her home country at All In 2023 but just 44 days later she dropped that gold to Hikaru Shida.

Saraya’s AEW Deal Almost Up

Fightful Select has reported former AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya could be hurtling towards free agency status. The English star’s current deal with Tony Khan’s company is believed to expire in September but option years could be in play.

There is said to be internal debate over the nature of these options with sources claiming that both Saraya and AEW hold them. The two parties have been in talks over a one-year extension – whether that be a new deal or an option year being selected remains unclear.
