Former AEW Champion Dealing With Undisclosed Injury
An AEW star has suffered an injury.
After recovering from a severe back injury that forced her to relinquish the AEW Women’s World Championship in 2022, Thunder Rosa has become a regular presence in both AEW and Ring of Honor.
However, that momentum appears to have come to a sudden halt.
As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Thunder Rosa is dealing with an undisclosed injury. There’s no word on the nature of the injury or when she might be able to return.
The star hasn’t wrestled since competing in the Women’s Casino Battle Royal at All In on July 12. 24 hours earlier, she challenged Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship but was ultimately defeated in a little under 20 minutes. She’d also wrestled on the July 10 edition of Collision in tag team action.
Several Top AEW Stars Taking A Break
The news comes after Will Ospreay announced on Dynamite that he’s taking time off to deal with a neck injury. The British star explained that he’s dealing with two herniated discs that are pressing on his spinal cord. Despite the issue, Ospreay said that he hopes to be back in time for Forbidden Door on August 24.
Kenny Omega is also taking a step back, although no specific reason has been given why.
Meanwhile, at All In, Adam Cole revealed that he may never wrestle again while announcing that he’s going on an indefinite hiatus. It’s believed Cole is dealing with concussion-related issues.
