Former AEW Champion Taking A Little Break

Jamie Hayter hits lariat on Saraya, AEW logo

A former AEW Women’s Champion is taking a break.

Saraya hasn’t wrestled in AEW since competing in a number one contender’s four-way match for the Women’s Title on Dynamite Title Tuesday. The British star failed to grab the win on the October 8th taping and promptly disappeared.

Since becoming All Elite in September 2022, the star has wrestled 28 times and claimed the Women’s Title at All In 2023 at Wembley Stadium.

Given her history of serious neck issues, some fans wondered whether Saraya had suffered a setback and was unable to compete. But according to the woman herself, that isn’t the case.

Saraya Takes AEW Break To Make Red Carpet Return

Speaking to The Buzz on the red carpet for the American Reality TV Awards, Saraya confirmed she’s taking a break from AEW to focus on more non-wrestling projects. The star added that she’s already filmed a new episode of Catfish.

“I’m taking a little break right now so I can do more of this stuff again. I haven’t been on a red carpet in a minute. It’s nice to be back. I’m actually going to be co-hosting ‘Catfish’ soon. I already filmed the episode with Nev a few months ago. That should be fun.”

The comments followed a report that confirmed Saraya wasn’t injured and just working on other things outside of wrestling.

Saraya signed a contract extension with AEW back in September with her existing deal on the verge of expiring. Although the company held an option on her contract, it was confirmed the new deal was an entirely new agreement.

In Saraya’s absence, her partner in wrestling crime Harley Cameron has continued her in-ring development, enjoying an eye-catching outing against Mina Shirakawa.
