Former AEW Champion Drops Biggest WWE Hint Yet
An AEW star could be returning to WWE.
Back in 2024, Saraya revealed that her AEW contract expires in September, and since then she’s regularly given the impression that a new deal might not be on the horizon.
The star became All Elite in September 2022 after her 11-year run with WWE came to an end. Following her debut at Grand Slam, Saraya not only resumed her in-ring career after a five-year hiatus, but she won the Women’s Championship.
However, she hasn’t been featured on television for several months, and she’s suggested her career will soon be coming to an end.
Saraya Moving Closer To AEW Exit
In a move that’s only added further fuel to the raging fire of speculation around her, Saraya has dropped another two big hints that she’ll be leaving AEW when her contract expires.
During an interview with Justin Dhillon on Casual Conversations with The Classic, the star was asked about a potential match in AEW with Mercedes Mone. Saraya has been open about her desire to face Mone again outside of WWE, but interestingly, she said she might not be in AEW long enough to make the match happen.
I mean, we both wanted to, so we were just waiting for that trigger to be pulled. But I think she has other people that she has to wrestle for right now, so I don’t know when that time would be. Unfortunately, I may not be there to be able to do that with her,”
While appearing on Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast, Saraya went one step further, admitting she’d return to WWE after expressing her love for the company.
“I love WWE, and I don’t have any negative feelings towards them. I mean, they raised me. They saved me a lot. I appreciate them so much… I would absolutely, if there was something that they needed from me which was exciting, I would definitely go there. That would be silly not to, I feel, so yeah, if there’s an opportunity to do something fun, hell yeah. I’ll jump on board.”
Saraya hasn’t been seen on AEW television since losing a four-way match on the October 8 2024 edition of Dynamite.
Meanwhile, a new report has claimed that Mariah May’s AEW contract will expire within the next few months. While it’s unknown whether any option years are attached to her deal, one source noted they would be incredibly surprised if there aren’t as it’s unlikely May would be pushed so hard while on such a short contract.
