Contract Status Of Absent Former AEW Champion Revealed
A former champion in AEW has a lot of time left on her contract before it expires.
When AEW fans think about the women’s division, Toni Storm may be the first name that comes to mind as the greatest women’s wrestler in company history. However, in the company’s first few years, Dr. Britt Baker DMD emerged as one of the biggest stars in the women’s division.
Even though Baker is a former AEW Women’s World Champion, she has only had five matches in AEW over the last two years, and none since November 2024, which means it has been nearly a year since she wrestled for the company.
While answering a fan question in a Fightful Select Answers Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp said that Baker’s AEW contract runs at least until the fall of 2026, which means about a year from now, because Baker signed a five-year contract extension in the fall of 2021.
It was noted by Sapp that AEW could also include injury time in the contract due to Baker’s lengthy absence in the past. If they did that, then Baker would be under contract to the company until early 2027; however, it’s not known if they will do so.
Sapp has previously mentioned that Baker is healthy and wants to return to AEW, but Tony Khan has refused to put her back on television.
Britt Baker Sends Message To AEW Fans
When AEW was in Baker’s hometown of Pittsburgh for the September 24th edition of Dynamite, there was no sign of the dentist on the show. In the past, when the company ran shows in Pittsburgh, Baker was often featured heavily.
That led Baker to take to social media to thank the fans for their support.
We’re always so quick to burn the trolls on this app, but never quick enough to appreciate the true fans who show love every day. Thank you.
There are rumors that Baker is interested in joining WWE, which is why Tony Khan has benched her. There have been others like Rey Fenix and Ricky Starks (Saints) who were let out of their deals early, so perhaps that could be the case with Baker as well.
For now, Baker remains All Elite for at least another year, and perhaps even longer than that.
