Forgotten AEW Star Returns On Collision

Trent and Don Callis blur AEW logo

A long-time absent AEW star has finally returned to action.

After turning his back on long-time friend Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta joined the Don Callis Family. It appeared as though Callis initially wanted to recruit Cassidy, but this was quickly proven to be a ruse, as Beretta attacked Cassidy.

However, by July, Trent’s momentum came to a halt when he was taken out by Cassidy. It was later revealed that this was a way to write Trent off television as he required neck surgery.

Trent Returns To AEW

On the April 16, 2025, edition of Dynamite, Josh Alexander made his AEW debut in the Owen Hart Cup. Although he lost to “Hangman” Adam Page, Alexander quickly turned heel to align with the Don Callis Family.

Fast forward 24 hours, and Alexander teamed with Konosuke Takeshita to face Tomohiro Ishii and Rocky Romero.

In the final stages of the bout, Romero dropped from the apron in frustration after accidentally being clotheslined by Ishii. This allowed Alexander and Takeshita to grab the win. With the match over, Romero returned to the ring and helped Ishii to his feet before being joined by a hooded figure.

The figure was quickly revealed to be Trent, and the pair attacked Ishii before being joined by the rest of the Callis Family.

Fightful Select noted in February that Trent Beretta had been backstage at recent shows, although there was no word on what he was doing at the time.
