First-Ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Crowned
There is a brand new champion in WWE as the Women’s Intercontinental Title has been won on Raw for the very first time.
Following the announcement on SmackDown that WWE was introducing a Women’s United States Championship, Raw was not to be left behind as a Women’s Intercontinental Title was also on the way.
A tournament was made with 12 of the red brand’s female stars getting their chance to write their name in the history books. On the final edition of Raw on the USA Network, the two semi-final matches took place in the tournament as Zoey Stark faced Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria took on IYO SKY. Dakota Kai booked her place in the final but it won’t be a Damage CTRL affair as Valkyria picked up the win over SKY.
Originally WWE had planned the Intercontinental Title tournament for Raw’s Netflix premiere but that was changed with the final between Valkyria and Kai taking place on the January 13 episode of Raw.
Lyra Valkyria Makes WWE History
That match reached its end when Dakota Kai missed a big boot in the corner which allowed Lyra Valkyria to drop her with the Nightwing to pick up the win and the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
