First-Ever AEW Champions Crowned On Dynamite
New champions were crowned on AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming.
For the past several weeks, eight teams have been embroiled in a battle to become the first-ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions. After losing her AEW Women’s World Championship to Kris Statlander, Toni Storm tried to find solace in tag team gold with her partner, Mina Shirakawa.
One AEW star had to be pulled from the tournament due to injury and was replaced by the Death Rider’s Marina Shafir. That gave the rest of the field an even bigger mountain to climb as she teamed up with the mighty Megan Bayne.
Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale paired up for the competition, labelling themselves as Babes of Wrath. Surprisingly, they saw off ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and TBS Champion Mercedes Mone in the first round before also seeing off the Sisters of Sin in the semi-final. That set up a final between Babes of Wrath and the Timeless Love Bombs – Storm and Shirakawa at Dynamite Winter Is Coming.
AEW’s Babes Of Wrath Make History
Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa were the favourites to win the gold heading into the match, but sometimes, things don’t go the way people expect. Shirakawa found herself isolated as Harley Cameron hit her Finishing Move, Nightingale followed up with her Babe With The Powerbomb to pin the Japanese star and win the championship.
