A former WWE talent has returned to TNA.

On January 19th, TNA Wrestling held its first pay-per-view of 2025 in Garland, Texas. Genesis saw many of the company’s biggest names in action as the promotion said goodbye to one of its most famous names.

In the main event, Joe Hendry finally claimed the TNA World Heavyweight Championship with victory over Nic Nemeth. Hendry is the first British star to hold the title since fellow Scot, Drew McIntyre in 2016.

During the pre-show, McKenzie Mitchell made her return to the company as the ring announcer for the first two matches before the main PPV began. The star was also shown during the main card’s first match between Moose and Ace Austin.

Mitchell first worked for TNA between 2016 and 2019 before joining WWE. While with the sports entertainment giant, the star worked as a backstage interviewer as well as becoming a regular on The Bump.

McKenzie Mitchell was released by WWE in December 2023 and was last seen working for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling. Incidentally, the promotion is run by former TNA boss Scott D’Amore.

TNA Star Heading To WWE

While Mitchell has found her way back to TNA after a spell with WWE, a top TNA star will reportedly be going in the opposite direction.

Following a defeat to Tessa Blanchard at Genesis, it’s been reported that Jordynne Grace has left the company after her contract expired. It’s believed that Grace was against working with Blanchard when her TNA return was confirmed, but she worked through the storyline and subsequent match as planned.

Grace is now expected to sign with WWE after making several appearances for the company throughout 2024.
