Why Fired WWE Star Would Have Shaved Their Head For Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch handpicked her opponents during her run as NXT Women’s Champion.

Tegan Nox signed with WWE in 2017 but was forced to wait until July 2021 before arriving on the main roster. The star’s first run with the company was badly hindered by injury, and she was released in November 2021 before returning a little over a year later.

However, Nox again struggled for momentum was was released again in November 2024.

Arguably the highlight of her second WWE spell came in October 2023 when she challenged Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Title on Raw. Although she ultimately lost the match, it proved Nox could hang with the very best that WWE had to offer.

During a new interview with Alistair McGeorge for The Metro, Nox, now known as Nixon Newell, recalled her awkward first meeting with Lynch in 2021. The Welsh star said that Lynch called her out for having red hair and using a name similar to her own old “Rebecca Knox” ring name. Naturally, Lynch was just joking, but Nox quipped that she was ready to shave her head to avoid causing any offence.

She was away, and I had the flamed-coloured hair, like red, yellows, oranges, just this big red hair.

And when she came back, she went, “Oh, so not only you’re stealing my hair, but you’re stealing my name too!”

I was like, “No, no, no, no, I can change, no, Nox is a Harry Potter spell, this hair is red, it’s not orange, I promise!”

She’s like, “I’m ribbing you, it’s fine.” I was like, [breathing a sigh of relief] “Oh, okay! Because I will go shave my head right now!”

While reflecting on her match against Lynch on Raw, Nox said she felt she underperformed, admitting nerves got the better of her.

I think it could have gone a lot better on my end. That wasn’t my best performance, and I know it wasn’t. I was so incredibly nervous,

I think that’s one of the few times that my nerves got the better than me in a match. So, I would have loved to have been able to run that back.

Despite this, Nox was full of praise for Lynch, revealing that it was the champion who asked to work with her. The star noted Bayley is also known for pitching to creative who she would like to work with.

She’s such a nice person, she asked for all the people that she wanted to work with, which is wild, for her to even go, “I want to work with Nixon,”

Nox will return to the ring in May against ATTACK! Pro Wrestling against TNA star Dani Luna. The bout will be her first since losing to Blair Davenport in a dark match ahead of the July 5, 2024 episode of SmackDown.

Tegan Nox has previously claimed she’ll retire in two years if she can’t recapture her love of wrestling.
