Fired WWE Star Worked As Producer On July 8 Edition Of NXT

A former WWE Champion is back with the company.

On May 2, it was reported that several WWE Superstars across the main roster and NXT had been released. These cuts came just days after a number of office staff were also let go.

Among those released were main roster stars Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman, and Shayna Baszler, while Cora Jade, Gigi Dolin, and Eddy Thorpe were just three of the raft of stars cut from NXT.

Baszler’s release was particularly surprising, given how she’d become a regular and trusted performer on the main roster after dominating in NXT. However, it seems her run with the sports entertainment giant might not be over.

Former Champion Returns To WWE

Despite her exit, Shayna Baszler was back with WWE and working behind the scenes during the July 8 episode of NXT. According to Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, Baszler worked as a producer on the match between Kelani Jordan and Lainey Reid alongside regular producer Oney Lorcan.

The move could have been a try-out for a permanent producer position, as potential match agents are often paired with veterans in order to get a feel for the role.

There’s no word on whether Bazler is back with the company on a permanent basis or if she will be working backstage again in the future.

While Baszler has returned to WWE, even if only briefly, it’s been reported that Isla Dawn could be heading to AEW. As noted in a recent report, AEW is “heavily interested” in signing the Scottish star who was released by WWE in February.
