Finn Balor Addresses The Demon’s Future In WWE

Finn Balor makes his entrance in Demon makeup

Finn Balor has discussed the possibility of his ‘Demon’ persona making a return.

Finn Balor became famous for using body paint during his time in Japan, where, as well as original designs, he often used it to pay homage to different superheroes, from Spider-Man to The Punisher. When he signed with WWE back in 2014, Balor began only using the body paint in his biggest matches, using it to portray his darker ‘Demon’ persona.

That persona helped him win many of his biggest feuds in NXT, and carried over to the main roster where he also saw success. However, in his last two bouts as The Demon – against Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules in 2021 and most recently in a Hell In A Cell match against Edge at WrestleMania 39 – Balor came out on the losing side of things.

Since then, Finn Balor has admitted that The Demon became a “crutch” to him as he was trying to please too many people with the character. However, that doesn’t mean we have seen the end of the persona.

Finn Balor Doesn’t Rule Out A Return For The Demon

During a recent interview with WrestleZone, Balor said he still gets requests to bring back The Demon, but believes it is not the time right now, as he is focused on his work with The Judgment Day.

“Yeah I still get some requests, but there is a time and a place for The Demon and right now is certainly not the time. I am very invested in what I am doing now as Finn with Damian [Priest].

“We’re doing something completely new with The Judgment Day, something that has been working really well the past 2 years. I’m sure in the future there will be a time and a place but right now, I am very comfortable and focused with what I am doing with The Judgment Day.”

At WrestleMania 40, Damian Priest captured the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time just a day after he and Balor lost both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Titles. The next night on Raw, Balor and The Judgment Day were on the losing side again as he, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh were defeated by the Awesome Truth and John Cena.

Whether Priests new position at the top of Raw will cause dissension between him and Balor remains to be seen.
