Final Set In AEW Tag Team Title Tournament
The final is now set with just two teams left looking to make history as the first-ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions.
AEW is introducing a Women’s Tag Team Championship with eight teams getting the chance to become the inaugural title holders. TBS Champion Mercedes Mone looked to add more gold to her collection when she entered the tournament with ROH Women’s World Champion Athena.
Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa looked for solace and success with each other after losing their respective singles titles. One team was forced to draft in a dangerous replacement after one AEW star went down with an injured arm.
The field had been whittled down in recent weeks, with Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale – collectively known as the Babes of Wrath – becoming the first team to make it to the final when they defeated Julia Hart and Skye Blue.
Toni Storm Moves One Step Away From AEW Gold
On the December 3rd edition of Dynamite, the other semi-final took place with The Timeless Love Bombs of Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa taking on the MegaProblems – Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir.
The two teams met in a holiday-themed death match, and the end came when Storm used a gift-wrapped shoe, followed by a small package to pick up the victory.
The inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions will be crowned on the Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite on December 10th.
