Eddie Guerrero

Wrestling fans across the planet are celebrating the life of the legendary Eddie Guerrero as today would have been his 55th birthday.

Before his untimely death in 2005, Guerrero was considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers in the world, clout that he obtained after years of exceptional performances spotlighting his skills in multiple promotions across the planet.

Alongside talents such as Rey Mysterio and Dean Malenko in companies such as WCW and ECW, Guerrero helped create a spot for the “small guy” in wrestling. Not just that, but Guerrero also gets credit for bringing a new style of professional wrestling to the United States.

In 2000, “Latino Heat” would transition to WWE, exploding to a new level of stardom, and being known for both his in-ring antics and philosophy of ‘Lie, Cheat, and Steal.’ 18 years later, his WWE Championship victory over Brock Lesnar at the 2004 No Way Out pay-per-view is still considered to be one of the top moments in the entire history of the company.

October 9 is the birthday of Eddie Guerrero, and here in 2022, he would have been 55 years old. Both wrestlers and fans have honored the legend and paid their respects in celebration of the icon on his day of birth.

WWE showed tribute to the late star by labeling him “ground-breaking,” and Eddie Guerrero’s widow, Vickie Guerrero, took to Instagram to wish him a “heavenly birthday.”
