Fans Divided As WWE Creative Pitch For John Cena Leaks

John Cena on WWE Raw

John Cena could be about to get a new tag team partner.

Eight years after equalling Ric Flair, John Cena finally won a 17th World Championship and passed the Hall of Famer on the all-time list at WrestleMania 41.

In the main event of night two, Cena went toe-to-toe with long-reigning champion Cody Rhodes, but only got over the line thanks to a helping hand from an unlikely source.

In the final stages, Hip Hop star Travis Scott made his way to the ring and caused enough chaos to give Cena the upper hand. After Rhodes refused to hit Cena with the championship, Cena hit him with a low blow and then the belt to claim the win.

The involvement of Scott caused a great deal of controversy with fans questioning why a non-wrestler was given such a major role. Even The Rock later suggested he was surprised to see Scott, admitting he would have done things differently.

Controversial Pitch Made For John Cena

According to a new update from Cory Hays of PWN reports, one pitch doing the rounds within WWE would see Cena team with Travis Scott at some point in 2025. Hays added that caveat that there’s currently nothing concrete in place.

I’ve been informed that there is a pitch for John Cena and Travis Scott to work a tag team match together at some point this year. Nothing concrete as of right now.

Unsurprisingly, the report has been met with frustration online, as fans continue to question why Scott has become so integral to Cena’s story.

In any event, it seems that any plans for a team involving Cena and Scott will have to wait for the time being.

On the Raw after WrestleMania, Cena addressed fans for the first time since winning the World Championship. After again vowing to retire as champion and ruin the sport of pro wrestling, he was attacked from behind by Randy Orton.

The Viper crept from under the ring and dropped Cena with an RKO before he had a chance to defend himself. It’s believed that the sneak attack will set up a match between the long-time rivals at Backlash on May 10.
