The Fan Chant Sami Zayn Wishes Caught On With US WWE Fans

Sami Zayn WWE Raw

Sami Zayn recalled a chant that WWE fans did for him at a show in Europe, and he wishes the chant made it in the United States as well.

Whenever WWE goes overseas and puts on a show in front of European fans, the crowd tends to take over shows by singing and chanting things that aren’t usually heard in the US or Canada.

It’s just the nature of wrestling fans in Europe, who love to sing and chant things that may seem strange to American fans, but it works in Europe.

One year ago in June 2024, WWE’s Clash at the Castle event took place in Scotland with Sami Zayn defending the Intercontinental Title against Chad Gable at the show. They had a 22-minute match that was excellent with Gable coming close to winning a few times, but Zayn was able to get the win with a Helluva Kick.

During the Zayn-Gable match, the fans were singing “Sami Zayn, Sami-Sami-Zayn” to the tune of “Give It Up” by KC & The Sunshine Band, which was a 1982 song. It’s such a random song, but somehow it fit. Zayn shared a clip of it on social media while remarking that he wished American crowds would do stuff like that too. It’s worth nothing also that WWE announcer Corey Graves knew the song while the fans sang it as well.

One year ago today. I really wish this chant had caught on with American crowds as well.

Sami Zayn In Semifinals Of WWE King Of The Ring Tournament

Things are going well for Sami Zayn in WWE right now since he picked up a big win on the June 9th edition of Monday Night Raw. Zayn won a four-way match over Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, Bron Breakker and Penta to move on to the King of the Ring Seminfinals. After Breakker hit a Spear on Penta on the floor, LA Knight attacked Breakker with a BFT on the floor. Zayn was able to finish of Mysterio with a Helluva Kick for the big win.

Waiting for Zayn in the semifinals is future WWE Hall of Famer Randy Orton. That match will take place on SmackDown on June 20th. Cody Rhodes is the other semifinalist while Jey Uso, Sheamus, Rusev and Bronson Reed will have a four-way match to see who faces Rhodes.

The finals of the King of the Ring tournament will take place on June 28th in Saudi Arabia. Whoever wins the tournament will challenge for the World Heavyweight Title or WWE Title at SummerSlam on August 2 or August 3.
