Fan Breaches Baricade On WWE SmackDown

WWE fans unhappy

The WWE taping in Berlin, Germany, on January 9, 2026, witnessed an untoward incident.

In the closing minutes of the show, a fan attending SmackDown at the Uber Arena jumped the barricade. In the background, announcer Alicia Taylor could be heard wishing the fans a good night.

Just as the fan stepped over the barricade, the security personnel themselves hit the ground running and grabbed hold of the perpetrator.

A video shared online shows the security dumping the audience member back over the barricade before escorting him away.

Such incidents have seen a decline in numbers recently, but were common in the 80s and 90s.

One popular situation back in the day involved a match between Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin when an audience member jumped into the ring and charged at the Rattlesnake.

Triple H, who was selling a move, leaped to his feet and took the fan down before any damage could be done. Incidentally, this incident took place in Berlin, too.

Elsewhere, a WWE segment featuring The Shield witnessed an audience member dressed in the faction’s outfit come to the ring and stand beside the group’s members before being taken away by security.

Of late, such interferences are not just frowned upon by WWE but are treated as major security concerns with serious consequences, including lifetime bans.

Drew McIntyre Creates History On WWE SmackDown

In the main event of WWE SmackDown, Drew McIntyre challenged Cody Rhodes for his WWE Championship in a Three Stages of Hell match.

McIntyre won the first fall, which was contested under traditional rules. In the second fall, Rhodes defeated The Scottish Warrior under Falls Count Anywhere rules.

The final stage was a steel cage match, with both wrestlers trading hard shots and brutal spots. Jacob Fatu, who had been injured, returned at the taping and attacked McIntyre.

However, when Rhodes decided to step in, Fatu attacked him, giving McIntyre enough time to crawl out of the ring and win the match.

By winning the championship, the 40-year-old Scot created history by becoming the first wrestler to win a WWE Championship at all three programs: Raw, SmackDown, and WrestleMania.
