Famous WWE Tag Team Dubbed “Greatest Odd Couple Team Ever”
WWE Hall Of Famer Sean Waltman believes his partnership with Kane should be considered as the best ‘Odd Couple’ ever in wrestling.
Waltman, who wrestled in the company as X-Pac, teamed with ‘The Big Red Machine’ during the height of the Attitude Era, with the pair defeating The Acolytes to lift the WWE Tag Team Championship on the 9th August 1999 edition of Raw.
The duo would form a memorable, if short-lived, team and would go on to lift the gold on a second occasion before splitting in late 1999 after the former WWE European Champion abandoned his giant team mate to join a newly reformed version of DX.
The former friends turned enemies would embark upon a bitter feud from there, including a surprise victory for X-Pac over Kane at No Way Out on 27th February 2000.
Both men were later rewarded for their remarkable careers with inductions into the WWE Hall Of Fame.
Speaking during a recent video on the WWE Vault YouTube channel, Waltman remembered his interactions with Kane fondly and noted his belief that they were amongst the best of all-time:
“To this day, I’ll tell you of all my partners, as far as tag team partners go, he’s my favorite tag team partner. It was, to me, the best ‘Odd Couple’ tag team in wrestling ever.
That was a really successful run for me, teaming with Kane. I just loved teaming with him.
It’s kind of mindless entertainment, I guess. But, it was classic. To me, the greatest ‘Odd Couple’ tag team ever.”
WWE Hall Of Famer Hails WrestleMania 18 Bout
Two men familiar to both Waltman and Kane are legendary Superstars Hulk Hogan and The Rock.
The pair famously met in a highly rated encounter at WrestleMania 18, which emanated from Toronto’s famous Sky Dome.
Both men have received plaudits for their performance over the years, with WWE Hall Of Famer Kevin Nash recently hailing both men for their contribution to the memorable encounter.
