Ex-WWE Writer Recalls Nude Torrie Wilson Pitch
A former WWE writer has discussed the “ludicrous” pitch once made that would see WWE Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson appear nude on television.
Bizarre creative pitches are nothing new in the wrestling world and fans of a certain age will recall that nudity – planned or unplanned – has been part of WWE’s programming in the past, most notably involving The Kat at Armageddon 1999.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz recalled a pitch that would see Torrie Wilson appear naked on WWE television. Gewirtz describes the pitch as coming from a “protégé” of Paul Heyman and says it was this type of disrespect that led to a famous physical altercation between himself and Heyman:
“That was what Paul’s protégé at the time was proposing, and that was what kind of precipitated the big confrontation because we were all led to believe that this was going to be some high concept long-term storyline, unbelievable angle, and then it was basically proposed that through various coverings and slights of camera that it would be a naked Torrie Wilson on camera.”
“That’s when I scoffed at that idea and found it to be ludicrous. That form of disrespect is what prompted the pinch fight heard around the world.”
Brian Gewirtz is currently promoting his new book which lifts the lid on his time in WWE – There’s Just One Problem…: True Tales from the Former, One-Time, 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE.
