Ex-WWE Universal Champion Reveals Unfortunate Health Update; Requires Surgery
Ex-WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman recently sustained an injury.
Strowman, whose real name is Adam Scherr, had a WWE tenure that began in 2013 when he signed a developmental contract and officially debuted on the main roster in August 2015 as part of The Wyatt Family.
Over his WWE career, he became a one-time Universal Champion, Intercontinental Champion, and two-time tag team champion. After initially leaving WWE in 2021, Strowman returned in September 2022 for a second stint before being released again around May 2025 amid WWE’s budget cuts.
Ex-WWE star Braun Strowman Breaks His Hand
Recently, Braun Strowman shared a post on his Instagram story that featured an X-ray of his hand. He then followed it up with a post on his Instagram feed, revealing that he broke his fifth metatarsal bone while trying to separate his dogs during a fight.
He also explained that the injury required surgery, which he was scheduled to have soon. Strowman expressed frustration as the injury interfered with his plans, including deer hunting.
“Alright, so a lot of people wondering what happened. Unfortunately, my dogs got in a fight two days ago and while trying to break them up I got twisted up in the collar and broke the end of my fifth metatarsal off. I have broken that bone probably five to six times throughout my life, so it’s very brittle and stuff in there. And this time it broke completely off so tomorrow morning, I’m going to see a specialist, because I have to have surgery. Lucky me. This put a dampering in my deer hunting.”
Since his WWE release in May 2025, Strowman has pursued several new ventures outside wrestling. He is set to debut a TV show titled Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman on the USA Network, which is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2025.
Strowman has expressed interest in exploring non-wrestling projects while keeping the door open for a possible return to the ring in the future. He spoke about wanting to reconnect with family and friends and finding new passions beyond the wrestling road life.
