Ex-WWE/UFC Star Cain Velasquez Sentenced To Prison
Former WWE and UFC star Cain Velasquez has finally found out his fate after he was charged with attempted murder.
In late February 2022, former WWE and UFC star Cain Velasquez was arrested after allegedly going on a high-speed car chase that ended with him shooting at a man named Harry Goularte who’d recently been charged with molesting Velasquez’s son. The man’s stepfather ended up being shot in the incident, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Velasquez was charged with attempted murder for the incident and incarcerated in the Santa Clara County Jail.
Velasquez pled no contest to felony attempted murder, assault, and multiple weapons-related charges in August 2024 and now on March 24th, he has been sentenced.
Cain Velasquez was sentenced to five years in prison but will be credited with time already served. The amount served amounts to around three and a half years counting both time in prison and time spent at home with an ankle monitor. Lawyers for Velasquez expect him to spend one more year in prison when everything is taken into account.
NBC’s Ian Cull noted that the Deputy DA prosecuting the case had asked for a 30-year to life sentence while Velasquez’s defence wanted time served and probation.
