A ex-WWE star has highlighted deterioration in the performances of a few top wrestlers who defected to AEW.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Stevie Richards reviewed the recent Forbidden Door pay-per-view organized by the Florida promotion.

The August 24 event featured former WWE stars like Mercedes Mone, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage.

Mone, who wrestled under the name Sasha Banks, competed in a four-way match successfully defending her TBS Championship.

On the other hand, Copeland and Cage partnered for the first time in over 14 years in their tag team match against Killswitch and Kip Sabian.

While hosting The Stevie Richards Show podcast, the former Blue World Order member ripped through the talents for their underwhelming performances.

I don’t understand how Mercedes Mone has gotten worse since she got in AEW. This proves that the WWE machine can really protect people’s weaknesses, and then when you get to a place like AEW, and how many WWE wrestlers have gone over there and looked better? This includes Christian Cage and Edge (Copeland). There’s not many that look up to par or better after they leave. [1:00 onwards]

Mercedes Mone Recalled Feeling Restricted In WWE

During her time in WWE as Sasha Banks, Mercedes Mone was considered as one of the top stars in the promotion, having won the World Championship six times.

She even earned the prestige of being one of the Four Horsewomen responsible elevating the women’s division in the company.

In AEW, she currently holds 9 championships across different promotions.

In an interview with CBS Sports, she explained feeling restricted by her former employer.

She wanted it all, but she never got to hold it all. Mercedes Mone, the CEO, is everything ‘The Legit Boss’ wanted to be. She controls her life, narrative and intellectual property.

It’s being the boss of your life, taking control and doing that daily. I feel the best I’ve ever felt in my professional wrestling career. It’s so crazy to say that. I thought maybe my 20s would be my highest point. Here I am going into my 15th year of professional wrestling feeling my greatest. I can’t even imagine what the next five years will hold.
