Ex-WWE Star “Would Love” To Return
A former WWE Superstar is eyeing a spot in the Royal Rumble.
Cassie Lee might not have stepped into a WWE ring since March 2021, but that doesn’t mean the fans have seen the last of her competing for the sports entertainment giant.
The star originally joined the company in 2015 and was given the name Peyton Royce before linking up with Billie Kay. The pair enjoyed a popular run as The IIconics and won tag team gold, but they were ultimately released on April 21st, 2021. The duo went on to appear in IMPACT Wrestling before stepping away from the ring.
Following the birth of her first child with Shawn Spears in January 2023, Lee returned to the ring for a short run back in Australia that October.
Speaking in a new interview with Ring The Belle, Lee said she would love to appear in the Royal Rumble.
“Yeah, I’m open to it, for sure. I would love that. It’d be so good to catch up and I mean, it’s the Royal Rumble. We said no last time because we were still pretty hurt about it but, I feel healed now and I feel like I’d love to do that if the opportunity came.”
Peyton Royce Reflects On WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Run
The IIconics won the Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 35 and held the gold for four months, although they defended the titles just four times. Looking back on their somewhat underwhelming run with the titles, Lee said she would have liked things to have gone differently, but she and Kay did the best they could.
“Obviously, if I could have written that title reign my way, it would have gone a bit differently to the way it actually went. But as I said everything happens for a reason. We can only control so much. We had fun and we made the best of every opportunity that we had.”
