A former WWE Superstar recently revealed why she had to apologize to Vince McMahon.

Sonya Deville joined the Stamford-based company after appearing on Tough Enough in 2015. She made her main roster debut in 2017 as part of Paige’s Absolution.

Nearly two years into her main roster run, the former MMA fighter took to X/Twitter to insinuate that then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and former superstar Lacey Evans were involved in an intimate relationship. A move that almost led to Deville’s firing.

During a recent episode of her Daria & Toni Unwrapped podcast, the former Women’s Tag Team Champion disclosed that she received enormous backstage heat for her tweet. She then asked to apologize to Vince McMahon in person, which he allowed as Hulk Hogan sat in his office.

I had to go into Vince’s office and apologize for insinuating that someone else s**ked his d**k. And then, and Hulk Hogan was in there when I went in to apologize. Rest in peace! I had to be like, ‘Hello Hulkster. So good to see you sir. Hi, Mr. McMahon. I am so sorry for insinuating that Lacey s**ked your d**k. I was just trying to make a storyline angle,’ and he–and he goes, ‘You don’t really think that’s true do you?’ And I was like, ‘no sir. No!’ It was all just like an angle ’cause she’s like an a**kisser.’ And then I found out like years later that I almost got fired that day.”

Sonya Deville Retired From Wrestling After WWE Exit

The former Women’s Tag Team Champion had a decade-long run in WWE. After getting released from her contract earlier this year, the 32-year-old announced her retirement from in-ring competition.

During the same episode of her podcast, Sonya Deville made a heartbreaking confession about her final singles match, claiming it was her worst.

I came back from my ACL and had a series of matches that I am not proud of. Notably my worst work ever because I wasn’t confident. I was scared of my knee.

And you want to get out there and you want to show Triple H or whoever that you’re healed, you’re ready and you’re good and you get out there and you’re like, ‘F**k this shit’s real and I don’t want to be f**king out on the sidelines for another year with the ACL.

So it f**ked me up a little bit. And you know this feeling. My last match with the company was my worst match, which is maybe why it was my last match. Fair. It haunts me. It haunts me a little.
