Ex-WWE Star Needed Therapy After Failing To Win World Title

WWE Championship

A former WWE star has admitted that they sought therapy after failing to ever win a world championship in the company.

Climbing to the very top of WWE is a hard and arduous task that only a select few manage. Since 1963, there have been only 55 men who have been recognised as WWE Champions, although more have held various versions of the World Heavyweight Championship, which has also appeared sporadically in the company and is currently held by Seth Rollins.

But for one former WWE star, the fact that they never made it to the top of that mountain left them feeling like a failure.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Raven revealed that his failure to ever win the big one in WWE led to him needing therapy:

I spent time on a therapist’s couch, like for the longest time I didn’t think my career was a success, because I wasn’t World Champion of WWE. That’s really ridiculous, because I just held myself to such a high standard, but as my therapist said, ‘you’re the one holding yourself to that standard, and you can let yourself off the hook, too.

Raven Held World Titles Outside WWE

Raven’s run in WWE was still decorated with championships as he captured the Hardcore Title on 27 different occasions.

As far as world championships go, Raven held the ECW World Championship on two occasions. The second reign came to an end at ECW’s first-ever pay-per-view, Barely Legal, in 1997, when Terry Funk won the gold.

After his stint in WWE ended, Raven made his way to TNA, where he captured the NWA World Heavyweight Title in 2005 from AJ Styles after winning a King of the Mountain match.
