Ex-WWE Star Teases Retirement

WWE Women's Evolution Battle Royal

Former WWE star Lana – now better known as CJ Perry – has hinted that it might be time to find a new love in her professional life.

As Lana, Perry was paired with her now-husband, AEW star Miro, for much of their run together in WWE beginning on the NXT brand in 2013. The Bulgarian Brute and The Ravishing Russian quickly joined the main roster but following WrestleMania 31 when the man then known as Rusev lost the US Title to John Cena, their on-screen relationship began to fall apart.

They were soon separated on TV with Lana joining Dolph Ziggler while Rusev found support in the form of Summer Rae. Ultimately the storyline was abandoned when Lana and Rusev revealed their real-life engagement while they were meant to be battling exes on television.

Lana and Rusev were soon reunited and she started to take part in matches with her first televised singles match coming in 2017 at Money In The Bank where she unsuccessfully challenged Naomi for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Lana’s last match for WWE came on the 31st of May 2021 when she teamed with Naomi in a loss to Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose. She was then released from her contract just a few days later and has not been affiliated with any company since despite her husband now working in AEW.

Taking to social media while singing along to Miley Cyrus’ Jaded – no affiliation to Jade Cargill’s finishing move – Lana questioned whether it was time to let pro wrestling go forever:

#Wrestling became the love of my life for 8 years …. Will it come back to me or do I let it go forever?????”

CJ Perry’s husband Miro is set to be one of the headliners who will form part of the roster for the new AEW Collision show which debuts on June 17th.
