Ex-WWE Star Makes Surprise In-Ring Return After 2 Years Out

One former WWE star has finally made their return to the ring for the first time in over two years.

Roster cuts are nothing new in WWE but between 2020 and 2023 the company slashed the roster on a worryingly regular basis. One of the victims of those cuts had their final WWE match in September 2022 but they were not released until one year later.

That star was Aliyah who first joined the company as part of its NXT brand in 2015. The highlight of her career undoubtedly didn’t come until 2022, however, when she captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Raquel Rodriguez.

However, that title reign only lasted two weeks before they lost the gold to Dakota Kai and IYO SKY in a match that proved to be Aliyah’s last in the company although it was not until one year later that she was released shortly after the Endeavor takeover of WWE was completed.

Aliyah Returns To The Ring Outside WWE

Now for the first time since being let go, Aliyah is back in the ring as she appeared under her real name of Nhooph Al-Areebi at Canadian promotion Destiny World Wrestling’s Haywire event. Al-Areebi posted footage to social media of her competing in the Santino Cup Rumble which she won.

The full show will air on October 8th on the Fight Network and features several TNA stars including Joe Hendry, AJ Francis – who was let go by WWE at the same time as Al-Areebi, and Hammerstone.
