Ex-WWE Star Says He Suffered Injury In First Match
A former WWE star has discussed how he was injured by his opponent during his first official match.
Maven came through as the inaugural winner of Tough Enough, and his first opponent after that was Taz.
During the match, Maven took a slap to the face which in a recent YouTube video he confirmed actually burst his eardrum. This was as part of a discussion around when David Schultz slapped TV presenter John Stossel.
The very first match I ever had was against Taz. The spot called for an open hand slap to which Taz hit me on the ear, busting my eardrums. Granted, I was prepared for it. I knew it was coming, but John obviously wasn’t. He didn’t have any clue that any physicality was coming.
Was Dave in the wrong? Of course, he was. I think, you know, the subsequent lawsuits that fell upon Dave and the WWE showed exactly how wrong he was, but I mean he did get his point across.
I guess my only question for John Stossel would be, ‘After the first slap, what the hell made you stand there for the second one if you didn’t like the first one?
What Happened Before Iconic Maven Moment?
One of the most well-known moments of Maven’s career came when he dumped The Undertaker out of the Royal Rumble. Maven has discussed how he shared drinks with The Undertaker before that happened.
